Hyundai has confirmed that its headline act for the coming Melbourne Motor Show will be the production version of the Genesis Coupe.

The Genesis Coupe is Hyundai’s first foray into the rear-wheel-drive performance car market with a choice of either 2.0 litre turbo four, or a 3.8 litre all-aluminium V6 which can push the Genesis Coupe from 0-96 km/h in under six seconds.

Also on-board in the Genesis Coupe is a full suite of safety and convenience features including electronic stability control, traction control system, front, side and side-curtain air bags, active front head restraints, keyless entry, power windows, door locks and mirrors, cruise control and Bluetooth.

Sharing space on the stand will be the i30cw wagon. Based on the i30 hatch, the wagon boasts a longer wheelbase and greater cargo carrying capacity. It is, Hyundai says, built for active lifestyles with a cargo bay designed to accommodate a full-size stroller and luggage.

We’ll be looking in on both cars during our coverage of the Melbourne International Motor Show which runs from February 27 until March 9 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
