Following on from last year's reports that Top Gear UK's Season 13 budget would be cut, Clarkson himself is now reportedly in the bean-counter's cross hairs.

UK's Daily Mail reports that Clarkson brings in an estimated £2,000,000 annually (around AUD $4.4 million) but could see this figure drop by as much as £500,000 (AUD $1.1 million).

All current contracts will be honored, but, once these have expired, the BBC will be asking employees earning over £100,000 per year to take a 25 percent pay cut as it looks to cut costs and save around £20 million.

Clarkson may be about to take a pay cut, but we suspect he will have little issue keeping up with his mortgage payments.

The main issue here is that Top Gear continues with Clarkson at the helm. In a world largely full of woeful automotive television, it remains the one beacon of hope for the enthusiast with a sense of humour.
