Mitsubishi i MiEV SPORT AIR Concept To Debut At Geneva

Mitsubishi will be taking the wraps off its latest all-electric concept car, the i MiEV SPORT AIR, at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Flaunting a new body and tweaked mechanicals from the regular i MiEV, the SPORT AIR is intended to demonstrate that saving the environment need not be accomplished at the expense of driving enjoyment.

Beneath the SPORT AIR’s single-pod body lies an uprated electric motor, a lower centre-of-gravity and presumably some suspension tweaks as well. Lithium-ion battery packs improve range and efficiency, while we assume the SPORT AIR also makes use of the regular i MiEV’s microwave-based wireless charging system and in-roof solar panels.

The notion of a zero-emissions sports car is certainly a noble one - and we applaud Mitsubishi for pursuing it - but we have to ask: if you were looking for a sporty electric car, would you rather the i MiEV SPORT AIR, or a Tesla Roadster?
