Is the negative stigma attached to Chinese cars really that bad? Now we all know people who refuse to believe that a Chinese car can be a good thing (hell, would that be most of you?), but it seems that Nanjing Automobile Corporation is not overflowing with faith in itself either.
Or, at least, not when it comes to the MG brand.
NAC, which last year acquired British carmaker MG, has decided to change the name of its MG-manufacturing arm from NAC MG UK Ltd to MG Motor UK Ltd, in the process erasing any outward links to the marque’s Chinese parent company.
Why? According to NAC it was done to “reinforce the presence and image of the MG brand” and that “the new name will help strengthen the company’s reputation and re-emergence in the market by emphasising the already well known MG brand.”
You know what else would strengthen the company’s reputation? Ditching the geriatric TF and building something new, fresh and exciting. C’mon China, we know you’ve got it in you.

Have you SEEN those Chinese car crash test videos on youtube!?
They may be Chinese owned but the vast bulk of the design and engineering of the new MGs is being done in England, so they should stand up to crash tests Ok!
