If you’ve got to have BMW’s X6 SUV, then this is the way to do it. German tuning house Hamann Motorsport has turned up the wick on the BMW X6 xDrive35i, xDrive30d, and the xDrive35d. Work is still underway on the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 powered X6 xDrive50i.

Named the BMW X6 Tycoon, the Über SUVs feature heavily-restyled wide bodies and some solid performance gains to improve on what is already a competent package.

Power for all three engines on offer jumps respectably, though how this is achieved is not divulged. The xDrive35i now sports 360hp, up from 300hp, while the xDrive30d and xDrive35d diesels climb to 261hp and 316hp respectively, up from 235hp and 286hp.

The real boon here is the substantial increase in torque with the an extra 140Nms on tap for the xDrive35i, now pushing out 540Nms in total. Naturally, the diesels fare better in this department with 600Nms and 660Nms on offer from the 30d and 35d. That’s an increase of 80Nm for both engines.

A lightweight composite material has been used to create the impressive body kit which includes new front wings and rear wing extension. A new front bumper features larger air intakes and LED daytime running lights while the rear-end receives a three-part diffuser, rear spoiler and roof spoiler.

The obligatory wheel upgrade is handled by Hamann’s own Design Edition Race Anodized 23-inch rims shod in 315/25 rubber. Revised springs improve handling while also lowering the ride height by 40mm.

Inside the cabin, Hamann has added new instrument dials, a three-spoke steering wheel and acres of aluminium and carbon fibre.

The package is available now, though pricing is mysteriously absent, with Hamann noting that its work on the xDrive50i should wind up soon. If we were going to be this ostentatious with an SUV purchase we might just hold out for the twin-turbo V8 (you might as well go all the way).
