Jaguar XFR Clocks 360km/h At Bonneville - Faster Than XJ220

Jaguar has confirmed that a prototype version of its ballistic 510hp supercharged XFR road-rocket is now the fastest Jaguar ever produced. A top speed of 360km/h (225mph) was recorded at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, to eclipse the XJ220 which until now has held the crown with a terminal velocity of 350km/h.

Paul Gentilozzi, owner of Rocketsports Racing and former Jaguard XKR racer, handled the wheel work and explained that modifications to the car were quite minor.

A remapped computer, revised intake and exhaust systems and a re-tuned supercharger were the only changes made to generate the extra kick needed when fighting air pressures at such speeds. The car also received basic aerodynamic and safety upgrades, however the standard six-speed automatic transmission was deemed up to the task and not altered in any way.

If sceptics needed any proof that the XF range, and the XFR in particular, were the real deal then this would be it.

Any car that can crest the magical 186mph (300km/h) mark is a serious contender, the fact that it looks stunning is just a bonus.

    Truly incredible.

A return to form for jaguar at last?

I remember when Jaguar used to be a desireable product, these days it has all but lost that grandeur. Let's hope they can get out of this rut.

I knew I wanted a Jaguar when I saw the XF.
Just not sure what's in the future for them with Tata Motors in control at the moment.

P.S. Our wedding car was a Jaguar MK4 convertible, it was every bit beautiful and grandeur ... as expected of a proper Jag.

I'm still not feeling the mesh rectangular grille, it looks poverty-park. Maybe if it was blacked out or something?
