An overpriced, unreliable 4×4, well thats the badge it gets. Any buyers, dunno? I would rather get a Parado or Pajero or a Pathfinder for the price, reliability and space.
I own a Freelander 2 and a Prado - the Freelander is the better to drive both on and off-road (beach and country tracks) by far. The nervousness regarding Land Rover’s reliability has disapeard as the F2 has had no problems at all after 25,000km.
I’ve had a freelander 1 since 2006, 86000 k’s, no problems at all & this is from an ‘unreliable’ vehicle. Show me a prado, pajero or pathfinder that can get 7 - 8 L/100 k’s driving to work in sydney in quite good comfort & then happily take the wife, son & dog up the coast on holiday for even less fuel used. Add a bit of beach driving and still have single figure consumption.
I am currently in the market looking for a SUV. Have so far checked the Freelander 2, Tiguan and the to be released Audi Q5 and XC60 Volvo on internet, it would be interesting to see the market trends as far as the prices go in 2009. Guess I will wait.
Also interesting is to see the difference between US and our Ausie prices its ridiculously more expensive here. Given that the US market is larger but we are paying so much more than the Canadian prices too, the Canadian market would be similar in size here. Wonder where all this extra money is going?
It just P… me off to see the difference, are the accountants looking at 10 year older exchange rate?
Hi there I am also looking at Freelander 2 SE TD4, I cant see many faluts with them love to hear some up to date feedback all the reviews are done in 07, like so many other 4×4 aussies they seem to sling sh** at these cars but wheres there proof, i see value for money and a great fuel return, show me that in a Toyota
john love to hear from you did some more research today and love to hear from any current owners of the freelander 2
Can some one tell me why in Australia the FR2 SE and HSE models are lower speced than the one is UK, US & Canada, barring the full leather vs half leather seats.
Though I believe it may hv improved over the previous model, I am sure the VW Tiguan, Audi Q5 & the XC60 will offer extremely tough competition. They (LR) will hv to offer some more value for money in Australia to attract customers…hint to Aus-LR: See spec sheets for SE & HSE overseas models.
I have just bought a new `freelander 2 (in Mauritius) and it is fitted with 16 inches alloy wheels. I want to upgrade the alloy wheels and can i have the specs for the 19 inches alloy wheels and where to order.
I just recently bought a TD4 HSE, Freelander 2 with premium pack. After driving for about 1200 Kms, this is what I have to say: EXCELLENT!
The looks the comfort, quite cabin ergonomics, switches etc. are all fantastic and premium class.
The millage I am getting is about 12.2L/100kms and has been steadily decreasing (99.90% city driving), I believe its a new vehicle may be that is the reason or maybe the trip computer takes time to adjust…
I checked XC60 nice but looks more like a stretched car/station wagon. next was BMW X3, odd looking to me. Then I checked Audi Q5, nice vehicle, but looks like any other 4 wheel drive (Tiguan, Captiva, SantaFe). With chiseled looks all comforts in LR2 I could not have asked for more…
Great Vehicle, reliability: so far no worries..
I have had my F2 TD4 now for six months (10500km) and I cannot fault the car absolute pleasure to drive and fuel economy excellent not like those Jap crap 4WD’s.
The turbo diesel has incredible power the six speed auto meshes perfectly with city or off road.
One word to describe it, “Brilliant”, well done Land Rover.
