After hearing reports from Japanese newspaper The Nikkei that Suzuki’s Kizashi concept vehicle had been indefinitely postponed, we were a little disheartened at the apparent loss of the stunning AWD 220kW four-door.
But fear not Suzuki fans: Suzuki Australia has contacted TMR to confirm that the Kizashi is alive and well and that the production version will debut at this year’s New York Auto Show in April.
Andrew Ellis, Communications Manager for Suzuki Australia clarified the situation:
“The story is definitely one of Chinese whispers gaining ground without being checked by the original writers. The car is still coming and a production version will be displayed at the New York Motor Show in April.
“We’re still expecting it to arrive at the end of this year or early in 2010,” he said.
So there you have it folks: the Kizashi is “GO” and expected to hit dealerships late this year or early next. The impressively-styled saloon will be an important new model for Suzuki and round-out its model line-up at the top end. We’ll certainly be looking forward to some time behind the wheel when it arrives. An AWD layout and a 220kW V6 sounds like a good combo to us.

Sounds like a good package! Really looking forward to seeing what they production model will look like.
Now they just need to remake the Cappuccino to compete with the MX5 especially since Honda have canned the S2000!
Is this a Mazda6 sized car, or is it more like Legend-sized?
Babs judging by the size of the concept at the motorshow I would have to say its more Legend and Commodore/Falcon size of vehicle…but then again that was the concept anyway the production model may be a different size.
I just hope the production version will not get toned down drastically. I think this car is a bona fide competition to the large sedan market.
Judging by previous Suzuki concepts this will more then likely get toned down alot!
