BMW has released a teaser video which gives us our best glimpse yet of the upcoming BMW X6 M. Bernd Limmer from M GmbH is shown demonstrating a prototype model while going over some features of the car.
While specifics are not divulged, enough is shown and discussed to make it worth the watch, especially if manic SUVs are your thing.
More power will be on tap from the twin-turbo V8 engine and the xDrive all-wheel-drive system has been re-calibrated for greater RWD bias and to reduce understeer inherent in vehicles of this bulk. It looks like a pretty smooth ride inside, which is impressive given this all takes place on a race-track, and though muted, the engine note translates fairly well.
While the idea of a ‘chubby’ SUV on the track is not the stuff dreams are made of, the footage is good enough to wish we were at the wheel. Check it out below.

I’ve seen one of these on the road, and IMO they are not as offensive as the pictures suggest. On the road they do look quite nice!
However, I just don’t see this being a sales success. I mean, coupe styled sedans are one thing, but coupe styled SUV’s??? This is a whole different level of impracticality, however i could be wrong on that front.
I didn’t think Bmw could make a useless vehicle more useless until now!
Why don’t they put this chassis/powertrain in the M5? Sticking it in a clodhopper 4wd (no matter how well it might handle for its size) seems like such a waste…
or even the M6 hmmm AWD DSG V8 Twin Turbo M6 *starts drooling*
*cough* GTR Eater *cough*
Exactly
What’s next….a Hummer drift car?
I really like this car for some bizarre reason. I think it looks good and it’ll go hard with that powertrain and drivetrain.
A coupe shaped SUV isn’t exactly practical, but then when did anyone who bought a BMW SUV care about how practical their car was?
GTR eater? where on a track? let’s see it dropped and race ready then shall we.
These european cars really should try penciling a new look once in a while, hopeless people has one good look going then uses it on all their car models..? a whole new look would be nice instead of a look alike of it’s small bretharens
