10,000 Chevrolet Camaro Pre-Orders And Counting

General Motors claims to be holding some 10,000 Chevrolet Camaro pre-orders and that, despite the rough time US consumers have had with fuel prices, a substantial portion of that figure are V8 powered examples.

The upcoming release of the Aussie-GM engineered Camaro is sure to spice up the modern day muscle car battle with the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.

Things are still shaky for GM though as it has recently filed a lawsuit against Cadence Innovation, a key supplier of Camaro components. The recent bankruptcy of Cadence Innovation (one of a stream of US automotive supplier companies in trouble) threatens to delay the Camaro's production.

GM is taking action to try to retrieve machinery involved in component production that was sent to Cadence after contracts were signed.

Cadence is trying to stall the process long enough to get itself back up and running to fulfill the contract, but the uncertainty is enough to have GM taking action. Cadence has less than two weeks to deliver the components required before the delay will start to affect the rest of the Camaro's production cycle.

A delay may affect pre-orders but given that customers placing pre-orders are generally loyal to the brand and often fanatical about the model in question, it's unlikely the effect will be drastic.

Delayed or not, we can't wait for the Camaro to hit our shores. It will be one of the hottest GM products imported to Oz in some time. It can't come fast enough.
