2010 Lexus HS 250h Headed To Detroit

Lexus has confirmed that the HS250h sedan will make an appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January, but, aside from that information, there’s little news about the actual car. The team over at CarScoop however, reckon they’ve got the low down from some undisclosed sources on a few juicy tidbits that Lexus may have been keeping to itself.

Reports indicate that the HS250h will be similar in its proportions to a Lexus IS sedan and will be released in 2009 with a nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery pack. A switch to a more efficient lithium-ion setup is apparently slated for 2010.

Information circulating earlier in the year indicated that the 2.4 litre engine and electric motor combination from the Camry hybrid would also feature in the Lexus. This would seem to match up with the IS sedan’s proportions and makes a lot of sense.

Though hardly official, the renders above give us hope that the Lexus HS250h will be more of a looker than the Prius offered by parent company Toyota. Stay tuned for more info closer to Detroit.

Uuuugly. I’ll just lock my eyes on the IS-F and pretend this doesn’t exist…
