What a line! There’ll always be people crazy enough to buy a Ferrari!

We’ve already covered Ferrari’s continuing success, despite the global economic crisis that is decimating car sales around the world, but this line was too good not to feature, besides, it was uttered by none other than the great man himself - Enzo Ferrari.

“Enzo Ferrari said to me in the 1970’s fuel crisis we'd always find 1,500 people crazy enough to buy a Ferrari. Adjusting the numbers for 2009, I think that we'll continue to find 6,000 people crazy enough to buy a Ferrari!” explained Mr Montezemolo, who is also the chairman of the Fiat Group.

Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo revealed, at the annual Ferrari end of year media conference, that 2008 has been the best year on record for the world’s most revered performance car brand. Best ever sales, best ever earnings and best ever profits. It’s performance in the motorsport arena wasn’t all that bad either.

The Ferrari president went on to say that the Fiat Group as a whole is responding to the challenging times by holding back launches of new models already developed, for better times. However he did confirm that the pending launches of the Fiat 500 Cabrio and the Alfa Romeo 149 are still scheduled for 2009.

Yes, 2008 has been a great year for Ferrari in most respects. There's no reason why they can't find another 6,000 buyers in the richest pockets of the globe next year.
