Aston Martin DBS spotted - Vanquishing the Vanquish

The Vanquish. Soon to hand it’s crown to the new DBS. It might be old but its not ugly.

The successor to the Aston Martin Vanquish has recently been spotted resting after a bit of bahn-storming in Germany. The new Aston Martin is being designated the DBS and it is expected to go on sale in Europe sometime in October of this year.

The outgoing Vanquish was my personal favourite in the Aston Martin line-up and while it may not be considered as good as its newer little brothers the DB9 and V8 Vantage, it had plenty of that ‘big daddy’ menace thing going on.

Thankfully as you can see from the picture below, taken by the chaps at Pistonhead, the replacement for the Vanquish is a seriously nice looking piece of kit.

The new DBS will be newer, lighter faster and better looking than the Vanquish. Its likely to cost upwards of $500k to take this supermodel out.

Like the Vanquish, the new Aston Martin DBS will be V12 motor-vated using Aston’s own 6.0-litre unit with output expected to be around 390kW. The combination of a 100kg lower kerb weight than the Vanquish and a new six speed manual are expected to make the DBS the fastest Aston ever.

The chassis of the DBS is based on the same alloy structure that keeps the DB9 and V8 Vantages respective backsides off the pavement. Expect 20in wheels a ceramic brake option and a new improved, no doubt ‘bespoke’ interior.

If Aston Martin’s fry your burger then this is one car to watch closely in the lead-up to its release.
