The South Yorkshire Police Force have finished pondering and added a new Mitsubishi Evolution X to the fleet. It’s now clearly a case of three strikes and you’re out with the Evo X joining an Evo VIII and IX already seeing duty down town. While one Evo is menacing enough, the idea of being chased by an Evo pack is sure to make motoring miscreants think twice before doing a runner.

The ‘Evo in uniform’ thing is catching on - Victoria Police recently signed up an Evo X and kitted it out with a cap and a badge and whistle.

The more-heavily equipped Yorkshire Evo X ‘bobby’ will benefit from a range of upgrades to make its policing duties easier. While we’ve not been given the complete rundown, we do know the feature list includes Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology that allows the boys in blue to check vehicle details faster than before.

While there might be faster cop cars around the world, think Lamborghini LP560-4, Dodge Viper, Corvette and so on, the Evo range is somewhat more practical for daily duties. If you ever find yourself with a pack of Evos with lights flashing bearing down on you, it might be time to reconsider your career choices.
