FPV’s FG Falcon based F6 has pulled off a double win in the recent New Zealand Autocar Car of the Year Awards. The F6 took out the Performance Car of the Year award as well as the Car of the Year Award and did so by a record margin, beating the nearest contender by 20 points.
FPV’s General Manager Rod Barrett was understandably pleased with the results;
“For the F6 to take out both categories is just incredible! This further illustrates the F6 is the ultimate driver’s car - a fantastic combination of performance and dynamics. It’s a testament to the team here in Campbellfield that worked so hard on this project.”
Paul Owen, Editor of New Zealand Autocar, explained why the F6 has garnered such acclaim from the motoring press;
“The F6 was the most memorable drive of 2008. During the testing every single judge got out of the F6 with a huge grin on their face. It won hands down. You’ve made a car that will continue to define bang-for buck for many years to come.”

The F6 is powered by a high performance 4.0 litre turbo-charged DOHC 24 valve in-line six (a hi-po version of Ford’s much loved I6 engine), producing maximum power of 310kW at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 565Nm across a 1950 to 5200 rpm range.
While the F6 has yet to feature in our road test lineup, its little brother the Falcon XR6 Turbo has, and it was a super drive.
Well done FPV, the F6 represents exceptional bang for your buck value and is a deserving winner.

Love the XR6T, and its FPV big brother.
I’ve had my FG F6 for a month now and i always get out of it with a big smile on my face. I used to have a BA GT with Herrod Modifications but the FG is in another league. Good on you Ford for building such a Wolf in sheeps clothing.
