2009 Ducati Streetfighter: Most Beautiful Bike Of 2008 Milan Motorcycle Show

News from Bologna friends is that Ducati’s ’supernaked’ Streetfighter has been voted the “best-looking bike at the 2008 Milan show”. True, it’s as pleasing to the eye as Mariacarla Boscono’s left tit… (she’s the supermodel friends, the gorgeous Dolores keeps The Dirk appraised of things in the world of high-flying fashion)… but it also goes like a rat up a drain-pipe (not sure about Mariacarla on that score).

The new, Bologna-made supernaked Streetfighter claimed more than 25 percent of the 20,000 votes cast by visitors to this year’s EICMA event. Second and third went to the Aprilia RSV4 Factory and the MV Agusta Brutale 1078RR.With 155hp of Ducati L-Twin muscle harnessed in a stripped-down, super-light, 167kg bike (S Version), the Streetfighter was, according to Italian magazine, Motociclismo, the star of the Milan show.

With face-melting grunt from the upgraded ‘Testastretta Evoluzione’ 1098cc L-Twin engine, Ducati’s trademark Trellis frame, single-sided swingarm, Monobloc brakes, Öhlins suspension, lightweight forged wheels and Ducati Traction Control, the Streetfighter is loaded with ‘the good stuff’.

It’s the stuff, in fact, of naked bike legends. I’m not sure what you might have been gazing upon naked this morning friends, but the Ducati Streetfighter supernaked will come in a close second.

And, oh yes, 500,000 people visited Milan’s EICMA this year (in case you were thinking motorcycles struggle to pull a crowd).

Ride free friends. The Dirk. (Damn, seem to be stuck with the image of Mariacarla’s tit…)

I love naked bikes and have done since, well, before naked bikes existed. I guess I’m saying I love the classic, unfaired look of bikes from the 70’s and 80’s. Even modern interpretations (ie naked bikes) appeal to me when they show the uncomplicated classic lines of a bike.

But man, beauty must be in the eye of the beholder in this instance. I find this bike waaaay to busy looking to be considered good looking IMHO. Tough? Sure, but Best Looking? Well I guess that doesn’t say much for the rest of the show bikes.

Sorry Dirk but I tend to agree with Crew Chief. Beauty is in the eye …..of someone else. If that was the best looking thing at Milan this year then motorcycling could be in a bit of trouble. No wonder dealers are quiet.
If I ever wanted something that looked like the result of a dirty weekend between a Buell XB9R Firebolt, a Suzuki Burgman 650, an FZN Yamaha,a Monster….. and did those eyebrows come from John Howard? I’ll wait to have a look in the flesh, but at this stage she’s ‘faaar toooo busy’. Any tricked up Monster in black would have it’s number in the looks dept from the shot’s I’ve seen so far. But…….I’ve been wrong before and I’m sure I’ll be wrong agai …..nah sorry, can’t admit that.

The streetfighter looks awesome! some people have no taste.

It seems like you people who commented above would rather the MONSTER ?

Well back in 1993-1995 Ducati launched the monster and it had the same reception from the ”crowd” This manufacturer is WAY ahead of the pack. Don’t even think Japanese here.

The Streetfighter IS the best bike out there for appeal and class. We’re all just to ‘’stuck” to spot it. but don’t worry another 2 years from now when you see all the ugly duck copying and mocking it you’ll love this DUCATI even more. !!!

That’s what happens to all italian fashion. Ferrari, Maserati, You name it and they do it with more appeal !
Sorry harley riders I love Harley but only because the OWN (since last summer) the MV AUGUSTA (Italian brand)
Cheers
