It’s been known for some time now that Skoda were planning to return to Australia and we can now confirm that the brand will be “coming out” at this years Australian International Motor Show in Sydney (October 11-21).

We will be there to welcome back the Czech manufacturer who now operates under the VW umbrella. Skoda will hit the ground running with around 14 dealers across the country stocking the brand, no doubt alongside their VW counterparts.

Initially we can expect to see the Skoda Roomster MPV and the Octavia wagon and liftback models. The highlight will be the Octavia RS, close cousin to the Golf GTi with a shared chassis and 2.0-litre TFSI engine.

Based on the VW Golf platform, the Skoda Octavia is considered a quality vehicle. It may be built to a little more of a budget than the equivalent Golf but you won’t be asked to pay as much for it either.

Skoda’s return couldn’t be timed better, with VW on a roll and overall vehicle sales heading for an all-time record, another quality, well priced brand specializing in 4-cylinder vehicles should do rather well.

Stay tuned for a full run-down on the Skoda models heading for Oz, prior to the International Motor Show.
