Fans of 70’s supercars will no doubt remember the highly desired De Tomaso Pantera. Powered by a mid-rear mounted Ford 351 Cleveland V8 the Pantera was driven by the infamous such as Vince Neil of Motley Crue and the famous such as Elvis Presley. The Pantera was definitely a car to be seen in.
The Pantera was produced from 1971 right through to 1996. Unfortunately De Tomaso went into liquidation in 2004 but German designer Stefan Schulze has used the original as inspiration in his recent “Panthera” design study.
Designed around a Lamborghini Gallardo platform this car is a long way from being production ready, if at all, but it isn’t really that bad on the eye, is it?
Just for old times sake here is a picture of the original classic. Imagine sitting in that with big 80’s hair. No wonder Vince Neil had trouble driving the beast and wrote one off.

Vince Neil actually ran over the drummer of a band called “Hanoi Rocks” in a Pantera. Which killed him
