British motoring rag AutoExpress has hurled an interesting image at the world of what is supposedly the internals of the upcoming 2010 Honda NSX (or Acura NSX for our US friends). There’s nothing to say this is an official image, but if it isn’t, it’s a bloody dedicated (and clairvoyant?) fan who’s put this one together.
AE says the new NSX will be every bit as advanced as the Nissan GT-R, and will be looking to claim scalps such as the Ferrari F430, Aston Martin’s V8 Vantage, and, of course, the Porsche 911 GT3. Why not?
Pumping out a reported 417kW from its front-mounted 5.5-litre V10 engine and getting it to the ground via a paddle-shifted six-speed semi-auto transmission and Honda’s Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD), the new NSX may be a ’slight’ step forward from its 208kW 3.0-litre V6 predecessor.
AE’s scribes reckon we’ll be looking at AU$230,000 when it hits the floors in late 2009. Considering the Nissan GT-R is expected to go for around $160,000, that’s an… interesting figure.

Um …. ick.
This is just a gut reaction, but it seems like they’ve tossed everything that was great about the NSX out the window. Mid-engine design, beautiful exotic car styling, high performance from reducing weight (instead of just increasing power), etc. Before they messed with the headlights I thought the NSX was one of the most beautiful cars out there. Now, it’s just … boring.
I agree with you Chris. Doesn’t do anything for me.
The old NSX was to the original McLaren F1 what the new NSX is to the Mercedes-McLaren SLR - just cos it’s got more power and computing power, doesn’t make it a better drive.
As for the price, from memory the NSX has sold in Australia before for more than the GT-R (Back in 1992 the GT-R sold for $110,000, the NSX $167,000, which blew out to over $200,000, or BMW 8-series money, by the late 90s).
But yes it make the GT-R seem like the right bargain that it is.
Totally agree with you, the NSX name seems totally wrong for this car.
Aside from that, I don’t like the look of it at all either. The back half looks ok but the front is waaaay too busy.
