It is certainly a golden era for manufacturers of performance and luxury cars with many manufacturers locking in healthy profits and in the case of Maserati their first profit for 17 years.
Mercedes-Benz have also reported their second-quarter figures and the result is a healthy profit of $US1.95 billion (from sales of US$17.26 billion), almost double the profit recorded for the same period last year.
Mercedes-Benz have their new C-Class to thank for at least some of the impressive improvement. The most affordable way to get behind the wheel of the three pointed stars saloon range, the new C-Class is performing well. Aimed at a younger buyer than has been traditional for the C-Class the new more ‘driver oriented’ design is obviously working.

I think that it really is a case of Mercedes-Benz going back to their basic roots and engineering a car that’s built to last and the rest will fall into place.
Consumers picked up on that (and all the marketing links to the original “Baby Benz” - 190E) and suddenly the C-Class is selling like (insert appropriate metaphor here).
The new C-Class has been very well conceived. It didnt take me long to understand that the designers have carefully studied the rdesires/equirements of drivers and as a result have built a top quality vehicle. I want one.
