New Holden VE Ute range

Thankfully, an avid Holden punter has managed to snap a decent photo of the upcoming VE Ute in V8 SS trim. We weren’t overly keen on the look of the standard VE Ute that’s been spotted in recent weeks (below in Red) but this SS is looking somewhat better.

Note the quad exhausts, alloy wheels and slightly too high ride height, something that many new owners will no doubt fix soon after taking delivery. The new VE Ute is expected to make its first appearance at this year’s Sydney Motor Show in October along with HSV’s Maloo version.

Final styling remains a mystery around the taillight area, rear window roofline and side window but expect the front end to mirror the equivalent series sedan front end treatment. Likewise, Maloo is expected to tread the same path as the E-Series Clubsport, at least when viewed head-on.The fuel filler has been moved behind the rear wheel arch although comparisons with VZ are rather pointless as this is an entirely new design and platform.

The VE ute will be offered with the same engine combinations as available in the VE Commodore sedans. That means a choice of 3.6-litre alloytec or 6.0-litre L76 V8. The Maloo would be expected to run the LS2 version of the all-alloy 6.0-litre Chev V8 with the same 307Kw output as the HSV sedan range. We are particularly looking forward to seeing the Maloo come October. When it comes to hot utes Australia is very much the ‘lucky country’.
