Toyota has confirmed that the first TRD Aurions have already been ordered, with the Queensland police lining up for eleven of the supercharged V6’s for highway patrol work. We already know that the TRD Aurion is going to be quicker than even TRD were expecting, which means 235kW+ from the Eaton Twin-Vortices supercharger equipped 3.5-litre V6.

TRD has moved from the test and development phase to full scale production of the Aurion while the 4.0-litre supercharged V6 TRD HiLux is undergoing final testing. The press are expecting to have their first introduction to the TRD Aurion in August.

Toyota remain tight-lipped on the exact timing, but we can expect to see the TRD Aurion in showrooms as early as September with the TRD HiLux to follow sometime in November of this year.

Although Toyota and TRD have both previously claimed that the TRD Aurion will not be a direct competitor for the FPV's and HSV's of this world, they do seem to be keen to draw attention to the fact that the supercharged V6 has exceeded their initial output expectations.

“Total engine performance is one of the key positives of the TRD Aurion package. The TVS unit has performed really well and definitely helped deliver the engine performance we need.” TRD Australia chief engineer Stephen Castles says.

The big question now is just how the Aurion's FWD chassis will deal that grunty V6. The Queensland police are obviously feeling quietly confident.
