Victoria Police Enlist Hummer H3 To Combat Troublemakers

Under a plan announced some months ago, Victoria Police has now taken delivery of five Hummer H3s, the boxy American SUV adored by rappers and loathed by (most) motorists. The Hummers have been drafted to assist the Police with "public order related issues".

The five H3s will be used to combat alcohol-related crime in Melbourne's CBD and around Victoria by giving police a highly-visible presence outside known trouble spots. (Of course, the calming effect on drunkards of the presence of a large and ungainly vehicle isn't exactly clear.)

In fact, in what may be a touch of irony, in September of last year a man was bashed by the occupants of a privately-owned Hummer after he expressed his admiration for the car to its owner. So do Hummers quell violence, or do they encourage it? Victoria Police's H3s will be in service over the next six months, so we should find out soon.

Are they serious? Those things are a joke. You get more cabin room in a bloody Falcon, let alone a proper 4WD. Hope they don't plan on having officers in the back seats...

They arn't really trying to save money are they? Bunch of F#@K'n *** jobs. What's wrong with the land cruiser, it's cheaper and that scheme on the car looks like it should stay in Miami
