It’s not a car that we have heard a lot about in recent times. We knew it was in development but all has been quiet on the rumor mill and spy shot front. Until now…

Autogespot have re-posted some spy shots of what they believe is the new Lotus Esprit and despite the camo this is looking like being one very hot Lotus.

Autogespot also note that AutoCar Magazine have recently suggested the new Lotus supercar will be powered by a BMW 4.8-litre V8 with around 300kW. We suspect that the 300kW figure is on the conservative side as this is hardly a mind numbing number for a supercar, even a lightweight Lotus.

The new Lotus Esprit is expected to make its debut appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009 and when it finally goes on sale a sticker price of 70,000 pounds sterling is expected. We hope that Lotus will see fit to include Australia on the Esprit’s list of sales destinations. Being positive and assuming that it does, we could see the Esprit in the flesh before the end of this decade.
