TMR News and Features
While there is still no news on whether we can expect to see the Genesis sedan here in Australia, Hyundai has announced that its new luxury car will strut into 2010 with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The Genesis currently features a six-speed ZF box – the same box used by the likes of BMW – mated to its 4.6-litre V8. Seeking a smoother, more linear passage of power, the new eight-speed transmission is being developed by Hyundai itself to give the car ‘one gear more’ than even Mercedes has on hand, and matching that offered by Lexus.
It’s expected though that BMW cars will receive a new ZF setup by 2010 as well, with eight forward gears packed in.
In the meantime, it’s good to see Hyundai taking the game up a notch. Now, how about dropping a few Genesis sedans in Australia?

Heyy, Congrats to Hyundai. Sharp move.
I like this genesis sedan and all.. but just that front grille reeellyy pisses me off.. it reminds me sort of the older model Mitsu Lancers with slot grille, which was a BIG turn off. otherwise gr8 looking car
