Hyundai Coupe spotted in Korea

More pictures of Hyundai’s mystery rear-wheel-drive coupe have found their way onto the internet and the speculation surrounding exactly what it is continues.

It is believed to be based on the rear-wheel-drive platform currently underpinning the Hyundai Genesis luxury V8 sedan being developed for the North American market.

Most of the speculation centres around the drivetrain with everything from turbo or super-charged six-cylinders through to the ‘Lambda’ V8 from the Genesis being suggested. The one thing we can be sure of is that nobody really knows…except Hyundai.

Generally regarded as a replacement for the current Tiburon, it would probably make sense for Hyundai to offer both six and eight cylinder options depending of course on just how seriously they are taking themselves these days when it comes to building a potential performance coupe.

We know the new coupe has the drive going to the right end for it to be taken seriously…it just remains to be seen if Hyundai are going to give it some weapons grade performance to match.
