Hamann Motorsport has never been satisfied with a factory ride - Hamann's latest creation, the Volcano, proves that not even the Mercedes-Benz SLR is above improvement. The delectable SLR, itself a force to be reckoned with, provides the platform for the Hamann Volcano supercar which is capable of explosive acceleration and truly epic speeds thanks to its 'volcanic' power and torque.

An extra 55kWs and 50Nms is now available from the supercharged 5.4L V8 bringing totals to 522kWs and 830Nms. The increased motivation comes courtesy of custom exhaust manifolds, a tuned ECU and the obligatory boost increase. An extra water pump keeps engine temps in check while revisions to the transmission's control unit ensure the extra power is fully utilised.

And fast? Try 3.6 seconds to blitz from 0-100km/h on to a mammoth top speed of 348km/h. These figures eclipse both the standard and 722 special edition SLR's.

Doing their very best to maintain traction are 21-inch 'Edition Race' wheels wrapped in 255/30 (front) and 345/25 (rear) rubber while lashings of carbon fibre keep weight down and provide a visual impact to match the Volcano's performance.

The interior is a lively affair with Alacantra and carbon fibre trim options, aluminum pedals, and door sills and headrests featuring the Hamann logo.

There's no word on pricing and availability just yet, but given the donor vehicle used and the performance credentials of the resulting supercar, this is clearly a case of "if you have to ask you can't afford it".
