Given that the FG ute has been about for a while, we were a bit surprised to find that Lukey has only just now released an exhaust system for the previous BA/BF range of Ford XR8 utes. Essentially a 'cat-back' system, the Lukey Performance exhaust will not only help the 5.4L Boss V8 breathe a little easier, but it's also completely street-legal.

The system is based around Lukey's 'Ultra Flo' mufflers (intermediate and rear), which provide significant performance gains over the factory items, 2.5-inch mandrel-bent pipes, and, among other features, a double embossed finish on the tips.

Colin Jackson, Product Development Manager for Walker Australia summed up the package nicely:

“As with all Lukey Performance Exhaust products, this new system offers the XR8 driver the awesome Lukey growl with performance to match. On top of that, the system is fully street legal and it absolutely looks the part – so it’s the complete package.”

XR8 Utes built from March 2003 onwards, in either manual or automatic, are compatible with the new system. A nice V8 burble, a bit more power and a street-legal setup sounds like a excellent combination to us (but we'd be throwing in some high-flow cats and a set of extractors for good measure).
