Like the idea of caravanning but not so keen on roughing it? Are you the kind that prefers to "camp" with all the mod cons of home at your side? Don't think bringing along a full-size porcelain toilet with you is too extreme? The Action Mobil Globecruiser 2008 may be for you...

Built upon MAN's TGA 6x6 platform and powered by a huge 12.8-litre, 388kW six-cylinder turbodiesel engine, the Globecruiser also boasts permanent all-wheel-drive, a 12-speed automatic gearbox with two-speed transfer case, two lockable differentials, ABS and an 829 litre fuel tank.

In terms of accommodation, the Austrian-built Globecruiser features 61mm-thick insulated fibreglass walls, double-sealed doors, double-glazed and burglar-proof windows, a 550 litre water tank with a 40 litre water heater, freeze-proof plumbing and the aforementioned porcelain toilet. There's also space for two 11kg LPG tanks to supply cooking gas, while the whole living quarters are heated by that monstrous diesel engine - perfect for those quick trans-Siberian jaunts.

So, what's the cost? €490,000 is the price of entry, and custom additions and even-more-opulent interior fit-outs can quite easily lift that figure skywards. Still, imagine the look on your fellow camper's faces when you rock up in a machine that could quite possibly compete in the Paris Dakar... and win.
