Nissan Skyline GTR 2008 - Godzilla is back

Heres a sneak peak at the 08 Skyline GTR lapping the Nurburgring. As previously reported we can expect power to be in excess of 330kW and 500Nm. Typically, when Nissan finally provide official power figures you will need to add a fat handful of kW’s if you want to get closer to the truth.

Word on the street is that Nissan have been testing their new Godzilla alongside a Porsche turbo in an effort to ensure that the GTR is superior.

The R32/33 and 34 GTR’s used the 2.6litre RB26DETT which was basically a super strong cast iron block engine built to withstand large power increases and big revs. We hope that the new turbo-charged V6 continues the tradition of big power and big revs in a bullet-proof package.

The new Skyline GTR has a big reputation to live up to and a good lap-time at the Nurburgring is just the start.

The R33 GTR was the first production car to break through the 8:00min lap barrier at the Ring so it would be nice to see the next gen Skyline GTR take it right up to the Porsche GT3 and Turbo. It will need to lap ‘The Ring’ in under 7:40 if it’s to take on the Porsche 997 Turbo.

The bar has been set high and only time will tell what Nissan have come up with. I am quietly confident. I’ll provide updates as more information becomes available.
