Audi To Trim Temporary Work Force Numbers In Hungary

Audi_Factory

In addition to announced cut-backs in Q7 production, Audi will go one step further by laying off 40 of its 200 strong temporary work force at its Győr plant in Hungary. It’s the same story here too, as reduced demand forces more and more manufacturers to review their operations and tighten purse strings.

The Győr plant produces the Audi A3 Cabriolet and TT models as well as supplying engines for a range of Audi and Volkswagen models.

Peter Lore, Audi’s Hungarian spokesman, recently detailed the situation with Reuters and explained that the Hungarian plant is still expected to exceed last year’s results despite the cutbacks. Over 1.9 million engines and more than 60,000 new cars are expected to roll out of Győr this year alone.

It’s not a great time to be working in the automotive industry right now with reduced production and job losses spreading. From TMR, we extend our best wishes to all those affected.
