It's good news for Honda fans the world over with Honda Motor Company CEO Takeo Fukui confirming that Honda's Acura luxury brand will get a new V8 engine to help it compete against other luxury marques. Honda is responding to customer concerns that the current 3.7L V6 engine isn't quite up to the task.

Fukui explained that, in traditional Honda fashion, the new V8 will be completely different from engines currently available and will also provide excellent fuel economy. Details are sketchy at this moment. However Honda's penchant for high-revving engines combined with its famed build-quality can be reliably expected to result in a sweet-revving and thoroughly enjoyable V8.

Rumours suggest the 2010 Honda NSX could also see a version of the coming V8, in addition to the V10 already slated for the model. It's our hope that the V8 will prove successful enough to make it's way down the model line and ultimately wind up on our shores.

The Honda aficionados among you will undoubtedly be excited by the prospect of a Honda V8. (To tell you the truth, we are too.)
