Good Lord! Hoon loses car for life but who would want it.

Terrance Lord, a 43 year old hailing from Gisborne has been the first person to have their car seized for life under the new anti-hoon legislation in Victoria.

Terrance ran amuck through the Macedon Ranges shire last year when over a three week period he was caught by police in four different towns. Castlemaine, Kyneton, Gisborne and Woodend all played host to his antics. His charges included drink-driving and driving while disqualified. His blood alcohol reading on each occassion tested over twice the legal limit.

It all came to a humiliating conclusion yesterday when the Magistrate ruled that Terrance should be stripped of his beloved 1980 Toyota Corona and spend the next 6 months in jail.

The above picture is of a 1980 Toyota Corona. As far as I am aware this is not Terrance’s car, it is just to give you an idea what Terrance’s car was like. I wonder what it will fetch at auction…?

The Anti-Hoon legislation allows the police to permanently impound a drivers vehicle if they are charged with three hoon related offences over a three year period. Logic would dictate that at 43 Terrance was a bit old to still be hooning so one can only assume that he likes to kick the old Corona in the guts after a few Coronas at the local.

Another Bendigo teen lost his car for three months while yet another is staring down the barrel at losing his XR6 permanently.

The obvious lesson to draw from this tale of 5 towns is don’t drive like a fool or drink and drive. The road is not the place for recklessness, full-stop. The hidden lesson is don’t venture after dark into towns where the only entertainment is free to air TV and the local football.

Thankfully there is now one less 1980’s Toyota Corona on the road.
